I'm a dedicated psychotherapist with more than 30 years of experience offering in-person and online therapy for individuals as well as couples in Santa Monica, California.
Over three decades, I’ve helped countless clients overcome challenges, heal emotional wounds and make lasting changes. My goal is to create a safe, comfortable space to help you uncover what's holding you back then guide you toward personal growth and increased emotional well-being.
I am a Certified Grief Therapist, a Certified Sex Therapist, an Addiction Expert, a Gottman Couples Level 2 Trained Therapist and the founder of Pie Therapy.
Whether you're dealing with relationship challenges, sexual issues, anxiety, grief, depression, trauma or addiction, my therapeutic style is compassionate and collaborative.
Are you struggling with anxiety, grief or depression?
Do you feel stuck and can’t make a change or just need someone to talk to?
Are you in need of a supportive place where you can feel safe to discuss things you know you need to address?
Whether you're navigating life transitions, processing difficult emotions or seeking strategies to cope with stress, we can work together to address your unique needs.
Sex therapy doesn't have to be uncomfortable. The first step is simply talking about things you've been reluctant to articulate and finding ways to voice your needs to your partner in a constructive way.
I help clients address sexual concerns in a safe, judgement-free space. Many people grow up in environments where sex is not openly discussed or they've inherited emotional discomfort around the topic. I'm here to facilitate conversations that nurture a healthier relationship with sex and sexuality.
If you and your partner are facing communication breakdowns, recurring conflicts or feelings of disconnection, couples therapy can be a powerful tool for healing and growth.
I help couples develop greater closeness, respect and affection. Together, we'll explore ways to resolve disagreements and strengthen your partnership.
I provide support, personalized feedback and tools for couples to improve their communication, resolve conflicts and foster a stronger bond.
As a social worker, I have had the opportunity to visit people in family homes, group homes, nursing facilities, and hospitals.
There are many situations that might warrant mobile service, which is why I launched this as part of my private practice.
If you have concerns about confidentiality, convenience, transportation, physical limitations, or childcare issues then mobile therapy may be the right fit for you.
Addiction can come in many forms. If you are struggling with compulsive and/or obsessive habits, we can work together to find what feels like the most supportive approach.
I've worked with individuals who have decided to get support from 12-step programs as well as customized strategies to overcome addiction. No matter your situation, I can help you explore solutions that are best for you.
Grief is inevitable. It can show up in so many different ways and at different stages in life. Encountering loss and secondary losses or different types of trauma can feel isolating and scary. A supportive place to process the grief can be life changing.
If you are trying to find ways to cope with loss and learn how to process the complex emotions that accompany grief, we can work together to find peace and even turn pain into purpose.
Thank you for making us feel more comfortable taking about this difficult stuff. We felt so shy and out of our comfort zones but your homework is fun and doable. You put such a funny spin on things, which lightens the mood.
I have learned a lot and you have been instrumental in helping salvage my marriage. I am eternally grateful. ~TC
Sara saved my relationship and my life. I was at the lowest point in my life because my boyfriend and I had a baby, but we had to resolve our differences and decide whether or not to stay together. Sara was always readily available to us and never once pushed us toward one resolution or another. After six months, we found ourselves wanting to stay together based on everything Sara had taught us. We still have difficult times, but we are much better at resolving problems on our own now compared to a year ago. We are so thankful for Sara. ~ RS
You’ve been kind to me. Sympathetic. Complimentary about my recovery. Tough when you’ve had to be. You’ve got a terrific sense of humor that you know damn well I appreciate. I hate to think what my recovery would’ve been like without you. So I won’t. Saying thank you doesn’t begin to cover it, but…thank you. ~ CB
A therapeutic breath of fresh air! Sara will be your advocate and ally. She stands out from the crowd because she is rooting for you to be the most fully realized and grounded version of yourself. She fosters strength and resilience with humor and extraordinary listening skills. She looks out for your progress and joy at every turn. I am so grateful to work with her. She's a real game changer!

Sara was a new therapist for me in the fall when I was facing the greatest emotional challenge of my life. After I hit bottom and felt hopeless, Sara was there to pick me up, and show me that there is always something better ahead. Her caring, giving spirit was able to put me back on track, and allow me the understanding to move ahead. I will never forget your concern for me. You have a special calling and have helped me so much. Thank you again for all that you have done for me. ~ JH
Your expertise in group therapy and ability to help me understand has been amazing. I was in awe of your ability to manage the group in a highly effective manner. This level of direction is rare in my experience and will not be forgotten. The group members are blessed to have you as a therapist. I have also been blessed by your involvement in my training. ~ PG
I offer clinical supervision to clinicians and professionals in California who hold a Master's Degree. As an LCSW, I am able to supervise Associate Clinical Social Workers (ACSW), Associate Marriage and Family Therapists (AMFT) and Associate Professional Clinical Counselors (APCC) seeking hours towards licensure. I believe offering high quality supervision can reduce stress and anxiety involved in developing your clinical skills.
If you are seeking customized supervision, I would be happy to talk with you.
All students must do an internship in the first and second years of their Master’s program, but there are times when an internship may not have an available MSW or LCSW on staff to provide supervision or field Instruction.
I have acted as an adjunct resource to provide external field instruction to students so they can have hands-on exposure in social work. If you work at an agency in need of an external field instructor or would like to utilize a MSW student as an intern, please reach out to discuss the matter in more detail.
